Amorim confirms Man U extends Maguire contract for another year.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire remains uncertain about his long-term prospects at Old Trafford, with the club considering whether to extend his current contract.

The 31-year-old defender has made ten appearances across all competitions this season, starting just six times in the Premier League before a recent injury.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed the club have triggered a one-year extension to Harry Maguire’s contract.

“Amad (Diallo) is close, Harry Maguire we will use our conditions,” the Portuguese boss told a news conference ahead of United’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday.

“I spoke to him (Harry) this morning and told him he needs to improve on the pitch. We need him a lot,”

“He also needs to improve as a leader. We all know the situation he is in here, but we need him a lot at the moment, so we will happily use the conditions for him.”

“When you look at our team, we’re looking for leaders on the pitch. He’s a leader. Got to step up in that area. He’s got to step up his game. So we’re happy to go with that.”
